Pre-Operative Instructions

Welcome to Metrowest Oral Surgical Associates, where your comfort and well-being are our primary concerns. Led by our expert team of oral surgeons across our Framingham, Northborough, and Milford locations, we are dedicated to ensuring your surgical experience is as smooth and successful as possible.

As part of our commitment to your care, we provide comprehensive pre-operative instructions tailored to your specific procedure, whether it’s dental implant placement, wisdom teeth removal, denture placement, or bone grafting.

Please review the following instructions carefully to ensure a safe and comfortable surgical experience. If you have any questions or concerns, don’t hesitate to contact our office for assistance.

Sedation Instructions

Before receiving sedation, it’s important to follow specific guidelines regarding food and drink intake. Depending on the type of sedation you’ll be receiving, you may need to refrain from eating or drinking for a specified period prior to your appointment. Our team will provide you with detailed instructions to ensure the effectiveness and safety of the sedation process.

For your comfort during your appointment, we recommend wearing loose-fitting clothing, especially if you’re opting for IV sedation. Clothing with sleeves that can be easily rolled up above the elbow will provide convenience during the procedure.

If you’ve had a consultation with us, your prescriptions have already been prepared. Make sure to review the instructions accompanying each prescription, as some medications may need to be started before your surgery date.

Following your consultation, if advised, consider taking 600mg of ibuprofen and/or 1000mg of acetaminophen one hour prior to your scheduled surgery to help manage any discomfort.

If your consultation and treatment are scheduled for the same day, please note that your prescriptions have not yet been filled. If you experience anxiety about your upcoming procedure, follow the instructions provided for intravenous sedation.

At Metrowest Oral Surgical Associates, we’re dedicated to serving the communities of Framingham, Northborough, Milford, and beyond with advanced oral surgical care. If you’re ready to improve your oral health and enhance your smile, contact our office today to schedule your appointment.
