Metrowest Oral Surgical Associates is committed to providing comprehensive oral surgery solutions, including specialized services like corrective jaw surgery, also known as orthognathic surgery.

Serving the communities of Framingham, Northborough, and Milford, our practice prioritizes the unique needs of our patients, offering state-of-the-art facilities and a team of experienced oral surgeons dedicated to your well-being.

Who Needs Corrective Jaw Surgery?

While orthodontics can address issues related to tooth positioning, orthognathic surgery is necessary for cases where the problem extends to the alignment of the jaws. Jaw misalignment can lead to difficulties such as chewing, biting, or swallowing, speech problems, chronic jaw pain, open bites, protruding jaws, and breathing issues.

Before initiating any treatment plan, we conduct a thorough consultation, including a comprehensive examination and X-rays. This initial step allows our team to evaluate your unique situation and develop a personalized treatment approach.

Throughout the pre-treatment consultation process, we encourage you to ask any questions, ensuring that you are fully informed about the various aspects of your care. Decisions regarding your treatment will be made collaboratively, involving you, our dental team, and your orthodontist.

Corrective jaw surgery becomes essential when a misalignment exists between the upper and lower jaws, causing issues with facial aesthetics and functional bite alignment. This procedure is often recommended with orthodontic treatment to address concerns that cannot be corrected through braces.

At Metrowest Oral Surgical Associates, we understand the impact of jaw misalignment on overall oral health and provide tailored solutions to improve both form and function.

Corrective Jaw Surgery – The Procedure

If you are identified as a candidate for corrective jaw surgery, our experienced oral surgeons will collaborate closely with your dentist and orthodontist to ensure a coordinated and effective treatment plan. The surgery involves repositioning your teeth and jaws to achieve a new, more attractive, functional, and healthy dental-facial relationship.

Following surgery, you will receive a personalized recovery plan, along with regular follow-up appointments to monitor progress. Patients often experience significant improvements in their ability to chew, speak, and breathe comfortably, contributing to an enhanced overall quality of life.

Understanding the financial aspect of healthcare, Metrowest Oral Surgical Associates is committed to assisting patients with insurance-related matters. While insurance coverage for orthognathic surgery is often included in medical insurance policies, it’s important to note that some insurance companies may choose not to cover these procedures. Our knowledgeable team will guide you through the insurance process, ensuring a seamless experience.
